The book contains some heavy topics for discussion (without graphic details) including illicit sex, drugs, and suicide. The book shows how these bring no lasting pleasure, but rather destroy the lives they touch. The author does a great job of helping younger people think about the weightier matters of life, such as "Do I really matter?" and uses examples from her own life and others she met at L'Abri (both in Switzerland and England) to figure out what life is really about.
