If you've ever thought being "your own selfish pig" was the way to live a happy, fulfilled life, you may think again as you read of people who tried "all kinds of lifestyles, with all kinds of results." Susan Macaulay has put her father's (Francis Schaeffer) ideas in a readable style, understandable to today's questioning high-school and college students.
The book contains some heavy topics for discussion (without graphic details) including illicit sex, drugs, and suicide. The book shows how these bring no lasting pleasure, but rather destroy the lives they touch. The author does a great job of helping younger people think about the weightier matters of life, such as "Do I really matter?" and uses examples from her own life and others she met at L'Abri (both in Switzerland and England) to figure out what life is really about.
