The Sager family joined hundreds of other for the journey west in the spring of 1844. However, both parents died and were buried along the trail. Follow the children on their way west to Oregon as they brave starvation, disease, cold, crippling accidents, and the Indian massacre of the Whitmans at their Oregon Mission of the Presbyterian and Congregational churches in Walla Walla, Washington. All events in the book were related by one or more of the sisters, the Whitmans, or by other contemporary persons, in conversations, letters, or diaries.
