My First Reports
Introducing a child to research is an exciting part of homeschooling, and
can begin at an early age. Sometimes students balk if the assignment is too
general. These packets give you a place to start for a systematic study. Instead
of just filling in workbook short answers, your children will express their
knowledge in complete sentences of their own. In addition to the individual
page guides to each topic, each set includes unit program ideas for expanded
lessons in every subject area. Each packet also contains sheets on approximately
twelve different topics in one subject, reproducible report forms with varying
line heights, and instructions. Basic questions are given for directed investigation.
Besides reporting skills, your children will automatically practice language,
penmanship, and use their library, encyclopedia, and dictionary skills. Students
then create their own reports with or without a picture. Using one topic per
week, a packet will last an entire quarter. (Grades 3–4; Grades 1–2 with parental
direction)
