High School Mathematics (Grades 9-12)

Hewitt requires two years of math for graduation. For students planning on taking the SAT or ACT, we recommend completion of at least algebra 1. Performance on the tests will likely be improved by also completing algebra 2 and/or geometry. We primarily carry Saxon mathematics, and these books integrate geometry into their algebra books. There is evidence, however, that students who rely solely on Saxon may perform less well on the geometry portions of standardized tests. For this reason we also offer UCSMP Geometry. If your student is not ready for algebra 1/2, we also offer syllabi for earlier Saxon courses; see our Books and Materials section.

Algebra 1/2

For a complete list of topics, see the description of the text in our Books and Materials section. Students complete problem sets and tests; there is a Hewitt quarter-end test each quarter. Grade 9 for students not ready for Algebra 1.
