I have a B. A. in English from the University of Washington, with an emphasis in literature and writing. My love of language started early—as a child, I routinely ploughed through four or five books a day. In high school, I read the non-required parts of my literature textbooks. In college, I worked at one of the campus libraries, and frequently walked to class with my nose in a book.

Now I edit a small literary-type journal, grade English papers for Hewitt, do some freelance writing, and continue to read whatever I can get my hands on.

At any given time my in-progress-reading-list has between ten and twenty books and periodicals on it. Some of my favorite authors are William Faulkner, Ernest Hemingway, Virginia Woolf, Dorothy L. Sayers, and C. S. Lewis. I love poetry too—John Donne, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Frost, W. H. Auden, and Emily Dickinson are towards the top of my list of favorites.

In my spare time (what there is of it) I like to garden, fix up the 1920’s house my husband and I live in, and go for long walks. I’m also a horse addict—in high-school my Tennessee Walker mare and I lived at 4-H horse shows—but since my writing doesn’t bring in enough to support my habit, the only animal I have right now is Granola—an orange and white tabby cat who loves to eat dry Cheerios.

I look forward to working with you!
