This is Hewitt's syllabus for students enrolled in our World History course (may be used with the 2-volume set Streams of Civilization or any high-school world history text) which covers ancient civilizations to modern times. The syllabus shows them the objectives of the course, how to organize their study, the quarterly assignments, what to submit to Hewitt for grading, and grading criteria. There is also information on primary sources and how to find and use them, how to write a book report for history, and what Hewitt requires in reports submitted for grading.

Each quarter students work on a map, a time line, activities, projects (chosen from a list of 44 included in the syllabus) such as studying and reporting on the architecture of three different periods or cultures and reporting about a country's contribution to one field (e.g., literature, science, language development, math, art, music), and a book report (chosen from the reading list for the quarter).

Although designed for students enrolled in Hewitt's high-school program, the syllabus includes a daily schedule which would help guide any student through a world-history course
